Why do you need an Operating Centre?
Your Operating Centre is where your vehicles are usually kept when they are not is use. As an Operator it is essential that you have a suitable Operating Centre as when you apply for an Operators Licence you will be asked to give the address and other details of the proposed centre(s) and give information about the numbers of vehicles and trailers you will be keeping there.
You will need to show that your Operating Centre:
• is large enough
• has safe access
• is in an environmentally acceptable location
You will be required to advertise your application for an Operators Licence in a local newspaper and supply details of your proposed Operating Centre. This advertisement needs to appear at least one time in the period of 21 days before and 21 days after you make your application in order to give people time to object if they wish to do so.
Your application may be refused if you fail to advertise your Operating Centre properly.
